The short version of the day
A jungle swing in Ubud is a seat or a flower-draped frame on long ropes that sends you out over a valley of palms, rice terraces or forest. The park listings give the scale: at Alas Harum the swing lifts riders 25 meters above the ground, and the same pass includes a flying fox that glides 300 meters. One listing says its swings are connected to natural palm trees, with no artificial metal structures.
Parks name their swings. One rice-terrace park lists four, the Dream Catcher, the Extreme, the Moon and the Tandem, with access to all four in one ticket. The Official BALI SWING lists a Flying Swing, a Panoramic Swing, a Tandem Jungle Swing, a Romantic Bed Swing and a Spinning Luna. The names differ from park to park, so ask which swings a ticket really unlocks.
A jungle swing in Bali is also a stop on a tour. The site tour's 60-minute jungle restaurant stop has a jungle swing inside the restaurant, overlooking the jungle, together with lunch. Another day lists a 30-minute jungle swing stop between the palace and the terraces. A half-day tour lists a swing location north of Ubud, at a place called Kumulilir, for 1 hour.
Six swing options
| Option | Fee from | Time | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alas Harum pass | $4 | 7:00 am to 6:00 pm | No under 7s on extreme rides |
| Terrace swing park | $20 | 2 to 4 hours there | Aged 5 to 65 only |
| Official swing ticket | $23 | 2 hours at the park | Main rides from age 5 |
| Zipline and swing | $34 | 2 to 5 hours | Swing up to 100 kg |
| Waterfalls and swing | $30 | 7.5 hours out | A single swing for all |
| The site's day | $59 | A full 10-hour day | Swing at the restaurant |
Each row restates one listing's own figures.
The listing for the full day mentions the swing in one line: a jungle swing inside the restaurant overlooking the jungle. The restaurant stop lasts 60 minutes, and the listing pairs the swing with lunch in a natural setting. Whether the swing is free for guests, whether turns are timed and what the safety arrangements are, the listing does not say.
That silence is worth one question before you book: is the swing fee in the price, and who runs the swing? The customized private tour in the same area says optional activities such as Bali Swing are outside the price and payable on the spot. A semi-customized guided tour lists jungle swings among its add-ons. Ask the operator which of those two models yours follows.
Count the swing's share of the day. If the 60-minute restaurant stop is also your lunch, the swing is a part of that hour, not a separate block. In a group as large as 15, an hour shared with a meal leaves a short turn for each rider, and the listing's maximum group size is exactly that number. A smaller party gets longer on the ropes.
What a swing costs to start
Starting prices from the listings; a ticket, a tour and a full day cover very different amounts of time.
Australia's travel advice says tour operators and adventure providers in Indonesia may not meet Australian safety or maintenance standards, so providers should be researched and safety instructions followed.3 Before an adventure activity it advises checking that your insurance covers it, asking about safety and rescue procedures, insisting on minimum safety requirements and using the safety gear provided.1
If you do not see proper safety gear, or you are unsure about the company's safety, the advice is to choose another provider or skip the activity.2 The advice is written for adventure activities in general, and the same questions apply to a swing: who checks the ropes, who fits the harness, what happens if a rider freezes or a seat tilts, and where is the nearest medical help.
Listings give some of the checks. One half-day tour describes a safety briefing and a harness fitting before the swing. A rice-terrace park says its staff are on site and that insurance coverage is included. Treat those lines as the seller's own claims, and still ask to see the harness and the briefing; a good operator will not mind the request.

Limits differ by park. One zipline-and-swing tour lists a zipline minimum of 30 kg and maximum of 90 kg and a swing maximum of 100 kg, and says guests over the maximum weight and age limit are not permitted for safety reasons. The Alas Harum pass lists a sky bike minimum of 35 kg, with maximums of 90 kg for a single rider and 150 kg for a couple, and a minimum height of 165 cm.
Age limits appear too, and they are not the same everywhere. The rice-terrace park sets its age range at 5 to 65 years, with a weight range of 35 kg to 150 kg for its games. The Official BALI SWING lists its main attractions for guests aged 5 and older. Alas Harum does not allow children under 7, pregnant women or people with heart disease on its extreme activities.
Check the limits against your real group before the day, and ask the operator which rule applies if one traveler falls outside a cap. The site tour allows free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which is the window in which to settle it. A swing is a short ride, and a refused turn is a small loss next to a long drive; the sooner the question is asked, the cheaper the answer.
A swing visit in order
Reaching the gate
At Alas Harum every visitor passes a security check, and activities run 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Before you swing
One half-day tour describes a safety briefing and a harness fitting first.
On the ropes
Caps run from a 100 kg swing maximum to a minimum age of 5 or 7.
Once you are down
The Official BALI SWING ticket lists photo spots such as nests along with its swings.
Indonesia Travel names Aloha Ubud Swing, on Jalan Raya Tegallalang in the same area as Alas Harum, with various swing packages and views of the rice terraces and butterfly gardens.4 The ministry also advises cash for the swing beside the entrance, the one with the LOVE BALI sign, because local children guard the sign.5 The terraces are, in short, a swing district as much as a farming one.
On this site's route the Tegallalang terraces are the second stop, a short 20-minute drive north of Ubud, and the area has its own swing parks.6,4 The jungle restaurant swing comes at the third stop, so a rider on this day meets two kinds of swing in one day if they choose the terrace one too.
A photo-led tour pairs a guide with a professional photographer and lists a swing among its possible stops: the private photo tour names the Tegallalang rice terrace for 1 hour and a jungle swing for 1.5 hours, and is listed from $46. It is a different product from a general day, and worth a look if the swing is the reason for the trip.

If you don't see proper safety gear or you're not sure about the company's safety, choose another provider or don't do the activity at all
Some tours include a swing. A 7.5-hour private waterfall tour lists a Jungle Single Swing that every guest gets to try, from $30. A half-day tour of the Monkey Forest and Tegallalang with a swing is listed from $18. Included means the fee is in the headline price, which is the simplest way to budget; a group of friends can split one number and skip the argument at the gate.
Some tours leave the swing as an add-on paid on the spot. The customized private tour, from $16, says Bali Swing and similar activities are not included. The semi-customized guided tour, from $23, lists jungle swings among optional add-ons. Ask for the swing price in writing, and carry rupiah in small notes, so nothing holds up the group at the platform.
And some swings are sold as park tickets. The Alas Harum day pass is listed from $4, runs from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and covers a swing, a sky bike and a flying fox. The rice-terrace park is listed from $20 for 2 to 4 hours, and the Official BALI SWING ticket from $23 for 2 hours. Compare the hours as well as the price: a ticket that lasts 2 hours and one that stays valid all day are different purchases even when the numbers look alike.
